New York Fashion Week arrived Thursday and with Valentine's Day around the corner, the runway is filled with blush, lace detail and intricate embellishments. Designers delivered staple looks combining the delicacy of the traditional woman and strength of modern feminism.
ADEAM, Noon by Noor, Michael Costello, and Erin Fetherston were some of many much-anticipated designers delivering feminine-inspired statement gowns. Our favorite looks integrate traditional softness with the simple silhouette.
The Fall 2017 Noon by Noor line featured a combination of light chiffons and soft prints creating an allure of simplicity and sophistication. Our favorite look was the all-white, long-sleeve pant jumpsuit. Complete with floral embellishments and additional flounce transitioning into a light train, this pant suit challenges the classic concept of romance.
The ADEAM collection channeled both Victorian matriarch and the rebellious body-pierced punk rocker. Designer, Hankako Maeda, said she was inspired by Japanese Lolita fashion. Maeda explains, "I really wanted this collection to be about expressing individuality and strong femininity".
Erin Fetherston described her Fall 2017 collection, Pursuit of Rhapsody, as "romantic, bohemian and free-spirited" After becoming a mother, Featherston's flirty signature style transitioned to relaxed and looser fittings.
Michael Costello's collection was full of lingerie-inspired lace gowns. Channeling the retro trends of the 70s, models were styled with massive perms and strong red lips... A look that I'll never tire of!
